Controversy has erupted in Taraba State over a Facebook post by Musa Salisu, a Senior Special Assistant designated on Social Media, which has been deemed divisive. The post in question reads:
“Thank you, Governor Kefas, for giving us the following:
1. 7 out of 16 local government council chairmen, including ALGON Chairman
2. Party Chairman
3. Head of Service
And others.

The post refers to the appointment of 7 Muslims as Chairmen of local government, a Muslim as an ALGON Chairman, a Muslim as the People’s Democratic Party chairman, and a Muslim as the head of service. Critics argue that this post injects religion into governance matters, undermining the unity and development of Taraba State.
Evangelist Ricky David has slammed Salisu’s post, emphasizing that leadership demands neutrality, inclusivity, and a commitment to progress, not the promotion of divisive narratives based on religious affiliations. David highlighted that Governor Kefas’ administration adheres to a merit-based system, prioritizing competence, dedication, and meaningful contributions to the state’s development, regardless of religious or ethnic considerations.

“It is truly disheartening and highly irresponsible for a Senior Special Assistant designated on Social Media to inject religion into governance matters in a state that is striving for unity and sustainable development,” David stated.

David also clarified that Governor Kefas’ administration does not base appointments on religious, ethnic, or tribal considerations. “Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas does not base appointments on religious, ethnic, or tribal considerations. His administration strictly adheres to a merit-based system where competence, dedication, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development are the only criteria for selection,” he said.
