TARABA STATE GOVERNMENT INTENSIFIES EFFORTS TO CURB BANDITRY AND KIDNAPPINGS
Taraba, Nigeria – In a bid to tackle the menace of banditry and kidnappings, the Taraba State Government, led by Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, has implemented a multi-faceted approach to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
The state government has been working closely with security agencies to gather intelligence and conduct strategic operations against bandits and kidnappers. The recent successful operation by the 6 Brigade, which eliminated numerous bandits and arrested 23 suspects in Karim Lamido Village, is a testament to the effectiveness of this approach.
Captain Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations, revealed that investigations carried out by the 6 Brigade showed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had bribed the district chief of Amar Village with 1.5 million naira to establish their encampment in the region.
“The investigation revealed that the bandits had disbursed a sum of 1.5 million naira to the district chief of Amar Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area to establish their encampment in the region,” Captain Oni said.
Governor Kefas has emphasized his administration’s commitment to ending kidnappings and banditry in the state. “My administration is dedicated to implementing robust measures to safeguard the well-being of our citizens and the integrity of our state,” he stated.
The governor’s administration has also focused on community engagement and development, recognizing that poverty and unemployment are often contributing factors to crime and banditry. The concession of the Kashimbila Dam to KP Hydro Limited is one such effort aimed at harnessing the state’s natural resources for the benefit of its people and the nation.
“We are committed to creating opportunities for our citizens, especially our youths, to ensure that they are not lured into criminal activities,” Governor Kefas said.
The Taraba State Government has commended the gallant efforts of the men of Brigade 6 command and other sister agencies in curbing crimes and criminal activities in the state.
“We appreciate the efforts of our security agencies in keeping our state safe. We will continue to support them in any way we can,” Governor Kefas said.
