Kabiru Bello Badaware Advocates Level Playing Field in APC Primaries
Declares Interest, Promises Responsive Leadership
A frontline aspirant for the Taraba North Senatorial seat, Kabiru Bello Badaware, has called for a level playing field in the forthcoming primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing the need for transparency and internal democracy.
Badaware, who recently submitted his letter of intent at the party’s state secretariat, formally declared his ambition to contest for the Taraba North senatorial position, subject to the approval of the APC and the electorate.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the submission, he revealed that his decision to join the race was influenced by sustained pressure from supporters who believe in his capacity, experience, and commitment to public service—particularly in the areas of youth empowerment and community development.
According to him, although past representatives of the zone have made notable contributions, there is a compelling need to embrace rotation of leadership to provide opportunities for others with fresh ideas and developmental insight.
“No one can give what he does not have,” Badaware stated, emphasising that leadership should be entrusted to individuals with both the vision and the capacity to deliver tangible progress.
Widely regarded as a grassroots politician, Badaware noted that he has maintained strong and cordial relationships across all segments of society, including youths and elders, even without holding public office.
He further appealed to party leaders to uphold internal democracy in the primaries, warning that imposing candidates through consensus arrangements could undermine the popularity and unity of the party.
Badaware expressed confidence in his chances, asserting that securing victory at the polls would not be a difficult task if given the party’s ticket, owing to the trust and goodwill he enjoys among the people.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the APC, Abubakar Bawa, assured stakeholders of the party’s commitment to neutrality, stating that fairness and transparency in the primary process remain non-negotiable.
