TARABA STATE GOVERNMENT ORGANIZES CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP ON MONITORING AND EVALUATION FOR STATE OFFICIALS
Jalingo, Taraba State – In a bid to strengthen the capacity of its officials and enhance the effectiveness of its policies and programs, the Taraba State Government has organized a comprehensive workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in collaboration with Euclase Resources Limited.
The 3-day workshop, themed “Strengthening Monitoring and Evaluating Practices in Taraba State Public Service,” was held at Tim Royal Hotels, Jalingo, and brought together top government functionaries, policymakers, and stakeholders from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) of the state government.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Kefas Agbu, emphasized the importance of M&E in achieving the state government’s development goals. He noted that effective monitoring and evaluation are crucial for assessing the impact and effectiveness of government policies and programs, identifying areas for improvement, and making informed decisions.
Governor Agbu urged participants to take the training seriously, as it is designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively monitor and evaluate government projects and programs. He also encouraged them to focus on building institutions with lasting legacies, rather than personal interests.
Major General Henry Ayamasoawei Rtd, MD/CEO of Euclase Resources Limited, delivered a keynote address, highlighting the importance of M&E in achieving sustainable development. He noted that many government policies and programs fail due to inadequate monitoring and evaluation systems, leading to waste of resources, inefficiencies, and poor service delivery.
General Ayamasoawei emphasized that the workshop aims to equip participants with proven techniques, guidelines, and strategies for successful project monitoring, evaluation, and completion. He also stressed the need for a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within the public service.
The training objectives include Improving understanding and enhancing participants’ knowledge of M&E concepts, principles, and practices.
Building capacity-building and developing participants’ skills in designing and implementing effective M&E systems, frameworks, and tools.
Enhancing accountability and promoting a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within the public service.
By strengthening M&E practices, the Taraba State Government aims to enhance the impact and effectiveness of its policies and programs, improve service delivery, and promote sustainable development.
